Pinspired Project #2

Harper's room is one of my favorite rooms in our current house! It was also the first room in this house to have curtains hung and pictures on the walls. She still has a big red sleeper sofa in her room and I already had some black and white 'curtains' from our last house. I needed a 3rd color for a little brightness so with the help of a friend via text, we went with yellow! I absolutely love this combo!

I needed something to hang over her crib. I had seen a few projects using these embroidery hoops in my spare time Pinterest hunts and thought they looked like a simple way to add some color to a wall. I also knew I wanted to have her name on a wall.  So this was the perfect solution!

My real inspiration picture used letters from Pottery Barn Kids. Anyone knows me knows that I wouldn't pay Pottery Barn Kids prices for little wooden letters! $60 plus shipping was way out of the budget. So I ventured to every local place I could think of that would sell wooden letters! Nothing!

I was intent on the lower case letter look.  I scoured the internet and ended up ordering  these letters from CraftCuts.com. They have a great selection of wood letters! (And they're on sale for 3 days!) This won't be the only time I order letters from them. I simply painted them white with a craft paint I had on hand.

This is so simple to do!

Necessary Materials:
Embroidery Hoops (available in various sizes at your local craft store)
Fabric
Scissors

Here's what you do:
Lay a piece of fabric over the outer loop of your embroidery loop. I recommend leaving your piece of fabric larger then it needs to be so you have room to pull it tight.

Push the inner loop onto your fabric until it is perfectly situated inside the outer loop. Be sure and pull your fabric as tighly as you can.

Tighten the screw on the outer loop until it is nice and snug.

This is what the back of your loop will look like now. You should leave more extra fabric than this. I had a hard time getting this one back together.  Trim the excess fabric as much as possible so that it will lay flat against the wall when you hang it.

My final product!

So quick and easy! The perfect little project to work on while you watch Survivor or Amazing Race or whatever your guilty pleasure is.
