My mom always sends the kids a box at Halloween of random Halloween themed stuff. It's mostly cheap little trinkets, coloring books, stamps, etc. They love getting mail as much as their mother does, apparently! The day she mailed the box, she sent me a text to let me know she was sending supplies to make these Vampire Donuts. She obviously knows that - - - Saturdays are donut days!
Every Saturday we take the kids to a local donut shop and let them choose 2 of their favorite donuts. This task requires a very patient donut shop employee! We have been doing this for at least 3 years or now. Saturday morning flag football games have thrown off our schedule a little. Now they have donuts for brunch - - which totally messes up all other meal times on Saturdays. Oh well. It's just a season. Occasionally a child will get their donut privilege revoked for bad behavior. This happens less often than it did at one point because these kids are serious about their donuts!
This week on our donut stop I bought an extra few regular glazed and chocolate glazed donuts for our little project. Since they are fans of cream filled donuts these days, we couldn't just use their typical Saturday morning choice.
On to our little glaze sucking Vampires.....
Necessary Materials:
Donuts
Plastic Vampire Teeth
Candy Eyes or Large Chocolate Chips
Optional: Icing to hold eyes in place
Here's what you do:
Gently press your Plastic Vampire Teeth around the hole of the donut.
Place eyes on the top side of the donut. Put a little bit of icing on the bottom of Candy Eyes so they will stay in place. (Since the donut will be eaten immediately, this isn't really all that necessary.) If using Chocolate Chips, you can just press them into the donut.
These are our creations. Notice the fallen eyeball on B-Bops? See my comment above out icing! Miss H was just glad to be eating a donut!
I'd say this was a fun little project for the kids that we can do over and over now that we have supplies, thanks to Grammy!

I am so glad they enjoyed the vampire donuts. Those happy, smiling faces make paying $14 to mail $2 worth of teeth and eyes worth it. LOL
