By the very skin of our teeth, we survived week one of summer! Woo Hoo!!
JB completed her first week of swimming lessons, commenting the first day that it was "So Fun!" I love her and the way she expresses herself. Well, not all the ways she expresses herself. The inevitable demonstration of how she feels when it is time to clean up the rats nest she creates in her room is not one that I enjoy or look forward to. However, when she comes to tell me some little morsel and she starts off by saying "I was like...." It makes me smile. Lots of cuteness in her little body.
We finished our first VBS of the summer! Yay! I was in charge of coordinating the preschool portion for our VBS volunteers this year. Procrastination was my middle name or probably the prefix before my real name if truth be told. I put it off and put it off. I ended up at meetings without key information or copies. I totally failed to include an entire day of curriculum in one of my age group's folders! I left 2 big display boards at home the first day that I had agonized and even exchanged emails with the curriculum company about because the directions about what went on these display boards was quite vague to say the least. In the end, we survived. Little kids learned about creation and Jesus and telling others about how much God loves them. Mission accomplished despite all my deficiencies and with huge accolades going to the volunteers in those classes who took the ball and ran with it.
This week we are trying to figure out how to fill our schedule. A challenge in all kinds of ways. I created this little scheduling system based on this post.
I stay up late every night thinking through the next day and rearranging all of the different 'events' to fit whatever we have going on. Amazingly, having this schedule in place has helped create some direction for us every day and direction helps alleviate chaos. Don't get me wrong...we still have lots of moments of chaos, but I wouldn't expect anything less from this crowd! BHW loves the schedule. He pops out of bed every morning and immediately checks it out. When it wasn't changed on Saturday, I got lots of questions and concerns. The truth is Mommy needs a couple of days to recover from the 5 weekdays of structure!
Some days everything happens according to schedule, but others, the schedule maker isn't quite ready for craft time or reading time and some days she would like to squeeze in a shower before swim lessons! Today, I am already behind! I better start looking at my pins for a craft that I have all the supplies to create already at the house.
Apparently there is a wedding about to happen in my bedroom between 2 of the yahoos. Weird...Better go intervene.
