31 Days: A Day at the Zoo

One of the great things about living in Central Texas is that we have access to lots of fairly inexpensive and fun places to take the kids on weekends or on days when we just need to get out of the house, which happens frequently! Before Cpt went on his middle eastern vacay, he was asked to play in a golf tournament with some friends from church. That left me here with the kiddos alone, obviously not an unusual predicament. What could we do to get out of the house? Go to the Cameron Park Zoo, of course!

I decided that buying a zoo membership would be advantageous for us since any time we go we have to pay for at least 4 people! That adds up quickly. We've used our membership pass  3x now and it's definitely been beneficial.

On this particular excursion, we invited Aunt B, the family photographer along, so we ended up with some fun pictures of the kids.
Not sure what the boys are acting scared of. This looks like we're in one of the aquariums.

Everyone had to go down the otter slide, even the beloved dolly!

Some days the otters act like bumps on logs, but other days they'll swim all around this little tube while kids are sliding. It freaks some unsuspecting kids out, but mine think it's very cool!

We love the zoo and now that the weather is nice, we'll probably end up there quite a few times in the next couple of months. When you can go often, you don't feel like you have to see everything every time so zooming through with this bunch is bearable!
