31 Days: Birthday Catch Up #4

If not for Facebook, there would be no pictures of F6's birthday. I guess FB does have some redeeming qualities. Tomorrow the hard drive goes to the geek squaders - - pray for a miraculous recovery of photos!

In true F6 fashion, we celebrated with the 6th member of our immediate family, Thomas - the Tank Engine, that is. I'm constantly amazed that after all of his choices, F6 always falls back on Thomas. If he ever decides he's over Thomas, it'll be a wonderful, but sad day for all of us. He really has been part of our family since before F4 entered the picture.

To celebrate his birthday, we had a little party here at the house with a few friends and family, who happened to all be in El Paso when we were. It's a crazy small world, but not unusual since the Army sent all of us all from one very large post to another!
This is the cake F6 picked out. We have a bias towards HEB cakes - mommy likes the whipped icing - but every cake we've ever gotten from HEB always has blue icing somewhere on the cake forcing everyone to walk around with blue tongues! The icing is so good that no one seems to mind.
This is F6 and his long lost buddy and best friend that we rarely see even though we live in the same town - CP. I need to remedy that! I got these silly train conductor hats from Oriental Trading and was surprised when just about every kid here put one on and wore it for a good period of time until the cheap elastic snapped or the cardboard tore.
No birthday party is complete in our family without a little girl covered in cake and icing on the verge of sugar coma! It was a humid day so her hair was especially curly! Isn't she a cutie?

He enjoyed his party with his friends. The adults thought it mighty clever of me that after we played with water balloons, our next activity was who can pick up the most busted balloons out of the grass. I was quick on my feet to come up with that super fun game on the fly. Unbelievably, every kid fell for it and cleaned up all the busted balloons in no time flat.

There's already a list on the fridge of who he's inviting to his party in 2012. It's rather short, but I'm not sure how I'm going to pull this one off or where his chosen destination will be. Let's just hope the IRS brings us a good deployment tax return to cover these parties that are about to get more expensive than this cheapskate party at home mom wants them to be. Think I could turn my house into Chuck E Cheese complete with lifesize singing and dancing puppets? Wonder if I can come up with some friends who owe me favors!
