I know we're supposed to dread Monday because the weekend is over and all that, but I couldn't have been more excited to see Monday roll around than I did this morning! After dropping all 3 kids off at their respective school locales, I drove quickly home to savor the quiet and tranquility of an empty house.
We had a good weekend, albeit a little wild, but good. Thanksgiving with my dad's side of the family and then the weekend with Grammy and Pop. I don't know what it is about Grammy and Pop rolling in the door, but there are 3 little people who absolutely lose their minds. I guess I'd lose my mind too if I saw a big flashing Toys 'R Us (TRU) sign every time I saw their faces. A wild and crazy trip to TRU has become a Grammy and Pop tradition. It's a good thing they go straight back to work when they leave here! They've gotta re earn the dent these little people can make in the pocket book while on a trip to TRU.
I'm trying to get F6 to realize that there's more to life than Thomas! I'm positive that every one of these trips to TRU has resulted in the purchase of some new train to go with our way overpopulated stash. As a matter of fact, once Grammy had to order a train, 2 trains to be exact, from Amazon after we got home because they didn't have them in the store.
On this weekend's trip, the boys found a Toy Story 3 Geo Trax set that they thought looked cool. Pop bartered with them and told them if they would each put back one of their 2 trains they had already put in the buggy, that he'd buy them the Geo Trax set. F6 managed to put back both of the trains he had picked out for F4. So he ended up with both of the trains he wanted and the Geo Trax set. Poor F4. He's gotta get some backbone!
What's funny is after this whole barter deal went down, F6 said that was a good lesson they had learned! The lesson he learned was he could get everything he wanted by holding power over his poor, clueless little brother. Not sure F4 even knew anything was going down.
Needless to say, I have heard the roar of this Geo Trax set for 3 days now. If you know what they sound like, it can be quite irritating! I've tripped over it. I've broken up countless fights over it. Nonetheless, it's brought pure joy to these little peoples' lives! The things we do for love.
Yes, and they got a new swing set, too. I've threatened their lives and the life of the swing set numerous times today. Nothing like threatening to take apart a swing set because they can't seem to share the slide. They know it isn't possible for me to do that. They watched us fumble putting it together and taking it apart to put it back together because the directions were so vague! F2 is the biggest offender of just sitting at the top of the slide while her brothers yell, push, pull, etc. to get her to go down. She isn't phased by their attempts! She'll learn to share via the school of hard knocks. That girl!
