I have successfully cleaned out my 3 kitchen drawers that have been driving me nuts! Just like walking into my cleaned out closet, opening these drawers brings less anxiety and less time searching for buried treasure.
I wish I were a better photographer. Gotta work on this. This is the same drawer. After I emptied the 2 utensil drawers completely, I decided that it would make more sense to group my utensils by their function. This drawer went from being total randomness to being still random! Ha! I bought a Rubbermaid divided drawer insert so that it isn't just one big jumble of utensils. These drawers are only 9" wide so I am limited in how wide of an insert I can fit inside the drawer. Maybe not perfect drawer organization, but a definite improvement.
This 2nd drawer became all things cutting - knives, can opener, pizza cutter, melon baller, etc. I like it! It will take me weeks to remember that I moved the knives, but I will eventually. I already had a bin in a lower cabinet that had all my mixer attachments so I was able to move those out of this drawer to give me lots more space.
These are all the utensils that got the boot today. Old knives, flimsy spatulas, defunct pizza cutter, etc. This purge was long overdue and it felt good to put these in a trash bag!

The final drawer for this section of Simplifying was our official junk drawer. I didn't realize how long it had been since I last cleaned this drawer out. I found a Whataburger coupon that expired in 2011!!! Oops! I now have 2 flashlights that work and know where they are. I even opened up enough space in this drawer to put my pens, pencils, scissors and stamps that have been in an organizer on the counter. Why have I been saving $0 balance gift cards?
There is something so soothing about deleting these little bits of chaos from my life! Come back tomorrow to see more chaos disappear.

Good job! I always feel better when I do a little decluttering. I'm pretty sure I have some old utensils that need to be tossed.
