I've been working on various DIY projects on this house since we moved here in January. I have some pretty big reveals, but it'll take me a little while to get those pictures and posts organized and posted. I'm terrible about taking before pictures, so I'm going to have to go searching for some before pictures of my laundry room before I post the awesome, still needing a little wall decor after pictures.
Yesterday I finished refinishing a new to us dresser for F2's bedroom. The dresser she had began its journey with F6, but was highly abused by F4 and F2 so there were 2 drawers that would no longer shut all the way. It had to go. I didn't want to pay a ton of money for something because I know it will continue to be abused. Thankfully, our community hosted its community wide yard sale earlier this month. I took the little tornadoes to get donuts and then we drove around window shopping from the car until I spotted the perfect dresser, 1 street away from our house, in our neighborhood.
I wish I had a before picture of this thing. It had been painted white and had 80's mauve bows stenciled between the knobs on the drawers. The lady I bought it from acted like it was a true heirloom and thought it was so pretty. I hated to inform her that those bows would be gone in a matter of days!
Here's the finished product. I'm really happy with how it turned out. I'm sure I could improve my technique and skill, but considering I've worked on this in my garage in 100+ degree heat for the past couple of weeks, I reached the point that I was going to take what I could get and go from there. It added a good pop of color in F2's otherwise bland room. I love all the drawers because there's plenty of space for all those little odds and ends little girls have in their wardrobes.
Another project I've been working on is transforming my laundry room into a nice laundry room/mud room. It's actually one of my favorite rooms in the house. Pictures of the room itself will come later! The most recent addition to this room is the name tags I put on these shoe boxes to designate whose shoes go where! The boys are fairly good about taking their shoes off when they come in, but F2 struggles. I love how these came out! They were super easy to do once I found a luggage tag template on Microsoft's Online Gallery. My house will be organized efficiently if it kills me!
